Lowering Spring Fitment Guide

Here are some answers to some common questions we get asked regarding fitting our Stance+ Lowering Spring kits…..

Fitting a Stance+ Lowering Spring Kit:

Please ensure a capable, fully qualified car mechanic or vehicle technician fits your Stance+ Lowering Spring Kit. All our lowering spring kits are supplied as a complete car kit (2 or 4 springs depending on vehicle). They are designed to be a direct replacement to the factory fitted springs.

Simply remove the old original equipment springs and replace with the new, shorter Stance+ Lowering Springs. Fitting is the reverse of removal. Factory bump stops may need to be shortened to cope with the shorter spring and increased drop. Our lowering springs can be fitted with standard factory fitted dampers or aftermarket up-rated sports dampers such as SPAX, Bilstein, Koni or KW.

Once the kit has been fitted and the springs have settled the car will need a fresh wheel alignment. This needs to be carried out by a professional garage using equipment designed for lowered vehicles. We recommend the Hunter brand of laser alignment equipment. Failure to re-set the camber and tracking angles will result in poor handling and un-even tyre wear.

Setting up the ride height on your Stance+ Lowering Spring Kit:

The good new is; there is no height adjustment or set up procedure to be carried out. Lowering springs are a very straightforward, easy to fit lowering solution.

Please bare in mind the new lowering springs will take a while to bed in, normally a few hundred miles, and will ultimately get lower when the car has been driven, normally settling 5mm lower than when fitted new.

Please note: The lowering quoted in the listings are approximate and taken from the car being new. An old car with old suspension may have already sagged over time so the lowering may not be as extreme as expected.

Stance+ Lowering Spring Kit maintenance:

Our lowering springs require no maintenance, they are a fit and forget item.

Top Mount Fitting:

All our Stance+ Lowering Spring Kits require the re-fitting of the factory original equipment top mounts and bearings. Please make sure the top mount and bearing assembly is fitted as per factory specification. The most common error people make is getting the top mount sequencing wrong. If the springs start making a pinging or twanging noise when the steering wheel is turned left to right this indicates the bearings are not fitted correctly or have failed. Instead of the Stance+ Lowering Spring pivoting on the top mount bearings the springs start moving and jumping on the damper cup. This can damage the springs and damage the factory fitted dampers, so it is essential the top mounts are fitted correctly.

When re-fitting top mounts to the damper it is essential that the correct tools are used. When mounting the front suspension top mounts, the factory piston rod will rotate when the top nut is tightened (this is normal). To tighten the top mount nut, you need to prevent the rods from rotating. Suitable spanners must be used to secure the factory top mounts securely and the nut torqued to factory spec.

IMPORTANT: Mole grips or pliers must not be used to grip the piston rods, this will result in scoring and damaging the piston rods, resulting in the suspension strut leaking oil.
